The Humboldt City Council meets twice a month, on the first and third Monday evenings at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers at the City Municipal Building.  Feel free to visit a council meeting, as they are open to the public.

Council meetings are not being videotaped at the moment due to equipment issues.   Hopefully, this will be resolved soon.  In the meantime, feel free to check out the official minutes from the meetings at the Document Center

The City of Humboldt has a Mayor/Council form of government with a City Administrator and five council members. The city is divided into three wards, with one council member elected from each ward and two elected at-large, which means that everyone in all three wards may vote for them.

The Mayor is elected by the voters for a term of two years, and the council is elected for four year terms. The council meets in regular session on the first and third Monday every month at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, but can meet for special meetings at any time or place.  Council meetings are open to the public, please feel free to attend a meeting!

City elections are held the first Tuesday in November of the last year of the official's term.  The new term starts the January 1st following the election.
