Kiwanis Christmasland in Humboldt will open for the holiday season Friday, Nov. 28. This popular holiday attraction sponsored by the Humboldt/Dakota City Noon Kiwanis Club, has been visited by more than 110,000 people since its opening in 1982. Visitors from most of the 50 U.S. states and some foreign countries have seen the displays. Last year there were more than 3,600 visitors to Kiwanis Christmasland. The goal of the exhibit is to provide an attraction that people of all ages can enjoy.
It is located directly south of Humboldt City Hall at 407 1st Avenue South, one block south of the police station.
For 2014, there are some reconditioned scenes and new animations on display. There is a special interactive display for children to enjoy and the club is soliciting public comment on what visitors would like to see next year. Thanks goes to the Humboldt County Community Foundation who provided the Noon Kiwanis with a $3,770 grant to help update this year's attraction.
