With the severe weather forecast later today, the City of Humboldt will be under a snow emergency beginning at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 23rd, until Thursday, December 24th at 3:00AM. During that time, parking is prohibited on all City streets except Sumner Avenue from 4th Street to 8th Street. Reminder, street parking is prohibited every night from 3:00AM to 7:00AM during winter months. Thank you and stay safe.

The police chief will be part of a veteran leadership team and report to the city administrator to implement goals and priorities established by the city council. Candidates must have a minimum associates degree in Law Enforcement or related college degree and five years increasingly responsible managerial experience in municipal law enforcement work. An equivalent combination of experience may be substituted for education. Position is full-time with excellent benefits. Brush must be placed on the curb by 6 am. Brush pickup is limited to branches up to 7 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter. They must be placed close to the curb and away from sign posts and other things that might hinder the pick up. Limited to one truck load per residence.
Yard Waste Burn Days have been set for Saturday October 17th, November 7th and November 21st.

HFAC OPEN FOR LAP SWIMMING AND SWIM LESSONS

The HFAC will be opening for swimming lessons and lap swimming June 8th!
Swim Lessons will be offered for 2 Sessions the week of June 8th and the week of June 15th. For each session there will be 3 time slots per level. Levels 4-6 will run at 8:15am, 9am, & 9:45am. Levels 1-3 will run at 2pm, 2:45pm, & 3:30pm.
Swimming lesson sign-up will be WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3RD FROM 3PM TO 8PM & THURSDAY, JUNE 4TH FROM 3PM TO 8PM AT THE AQUATIC CENTER. Each time slot and sessions will have a certain capacity and when it is filled it is filled no exceptions. You can not sign up before these times, but if you miss these days you can sign up at the Rec Center. The cost is $25 per child and only available for Humboldt County Residents.
Lap Swim & Aquacise Schedule:
Monday - Friday: 7a-8a, 12p-2p, & 4:30p-6p
Saturday: 7a-9a
Sunday: 12p-2p
Lap swimming will be available by reservation only and for 30 minute time slots. At this time lap swimming will be free for Humboldt County Reisdents only.

All appliances require a special sticker (Can be purchased at City Hall for $10) and will be picked up separately from the other items.
It is the responsibility of the property owner to dispose of anything that is left after clean up is complete.

The crew will likely close the bridge permanently to traffic sometime shortly after the 10th of April to start demolition. UPDATE: The Humboldt Family Aquatic Center (HFAC) is closed today and tomorrow for cleaning and shock chlorination. This unscheduled maintenance is due to cryptosporidium cases believed to be linked to the HFAC. A fact sheet is attached that provides information on the germ. The pool will reopen on Monday and the staff requests that anyone that has the symptoms listed not visit the pool until they pass. Also, please thoroughly wash all swimwear and objects that have come in contact with the pool water. This germ is extremely hardy and can survive normal chlorine levels at the pool.
