IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

Spring Clean Up Days:

Junk pick up will be Monday April 19, 2021. Everything must be out by 6:00 am that day to be eligible for pickup. Only one load per household. Please no liquids, tires, batteries, wire, hazardous materials or construction/demolition materials (i.e. drywall, insulation, etc). All appliances require a special sticker (Can be purchased at City Hall for $10) and will be picked up separately from the other items. It is the responsibility of the property owner to dispose of anything that is left after clean up is complete.

Yard waste burn day will be Saturday April 17. Burning is allowed between 8:00 & 6:00 pm. All fires must be constantly attended with a hose nearby. Burning is not allowed on City property including street right of ways. 

Brush pick up will be Monday May 3. Brush is limited to branches up to 7 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter. They must be placed close to the curb and away from sign posts and other things that might hinder the pick up. Limited to one truck load per residence.

 
Fall Burn Dates:  TBD

Burning is not allowed in Humboldt except for 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on the third Saturday in October and the first and third Saturdays in November.  All fires must be constantly attended with a hose nearby. Burning is not allowed on City property including street right of ways.

 
Fort Dodge Landfill:

Landfill visits to Fort Dodge are no longer free (since July of 2014).  The rates are $35.00 per ton, with a $20.00 minimum.  Call the Landfill at 1-800-582-4379 with any questions.

 

The City Compost Pile:

The compost site is currently CLOSED.

Just a reminder that yard waste such as leaves, garden vegetation waste and grass clippings are the ONLY things allowed on the compost pile.  Trash is not allowed.  If you witness someone violating this policy, please report them to the Law Enforcement Center at 332-2600 to make sure the compost pile can remain open for everyone.




Holiday Garbage Collection Schedule 2021

As a general rule, if your regular garbage day falls on a holiday, your garbage will be picked up on the following day, along with the route regularly scheduled for that day.  The rest of the week is picked up on the normal schedule.

President's Day, Monday, February 15th - Monday's route will be picked up on Tuesday the 16th, along with Tuesday's regular route.  The rest of the week is on regular schedule.

Memorial Day - Monday, May 31st - Monday's route will be picked up on Tuesday June 1st, along with Tuesday's regular route.  The rest of the week is on regular schedule.

Labor Day - Monday, September 6th - Monday's route will be picked up on Tuesday the 7th, along with Tuesday's regular route.  The rest of the week is on regular schedule.

Veteran's Day - Thursday, November 11th - Thursday's route will be picked up on Wednesday the 10th, along with Wednesday's regular route.  The rest of the week is on regular schedule.

Thanksgiving - Thursday and Friday November 25th and 26th - Trash for both days will be picked up on Wednesday the 24th, along with Wednesday's route.  The rest of the week is on regular schedule.

 

Humboldt County has a new Emergency Notification System through ALERT IOWA.  (The NIXLE system is no longer active.)  In the event of an emergency, a text message, voice call, or e-mail will be sent to the contact information that you provide the system.  You do not need to be a resident of Humboldt County to take advantage of this free service.  Click on the link below to register and get notifications right away.
