Kiwanis Christmasland 2024

Kiwanis Christmasland in Humboldt will open for the holiday season Friday, Nov. 29th. This is our 42nd year of operation. This popular holiday attraction sponsored by the Humboldt/Dakota City Noon Kiwanis Club, has been visited by more than 115,000 people since its opening in 1982. Visitors from most of the 50 U.S. states and some foreign countries have seen the displays. Last year there was an estimated 2,500 visitors to Kiwanis Christmasland. The goal of the exhibit is to provide an attraction that people of all ages can enjoy. 

It is located directly south of Humboldt City Hall at 407 1st Avenue South, one block south of the police station. 

For 2024, there are some reconditioned scenes and new animations on display. There is a new sound system, updated train engines, children's stockings from our Christmas in July event and much more. The self-guided tour is available free of charge.

Kiwanis Christmasland will be open the following hours for the 2024 season:

Friday Evenings:
November 29, December 6, December 13 & December 20: 6:30 - 8:30PM

Saturdays:
November 30, December 7, December 14 & December 21: 2:30-4:30PM & 6:30-8:30PM

Sundays:
December 1, December 8, December 15: 2:30-4:30PM & December 22 2:30-4:30PM & 6:30-8:30PM

Monday, December 23: 2:30 - 4:30PM & 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Tuesday, December 24: 2:30 - 4:30PM (last day)

Christmasland will not be open on Christmas eve evening, nor Christmas Day. 

Christmasland will be closed for inclement weather. Notification will be posted outside. If time allows, notification will be made on Facebook, www.humboldtnews.com and KHBT radio. 

Christmasland will be open by arrangement for group tours. Call Karen Sorensen at (515) 890-0864 to schedule a day and time. All school groups, nursing homes, group homes, church groups, businesses and civic organizations are welcome.

Job Announcement - Solid Waste/Recycling Collector

City of Humboldt Solid Waste/Recycling Collector
The City of Humboldt, Iowa (4,792) is seeking to fill the position of Solid Waste/Recycling Collector, which will provide daily collection and disposal of all solid waste and recycling collected in a house-to-house operation for residential customers and an organized schedule for commercial customers, either with pick-up, garbage truck, or recycling truck for the City of Humboldt. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of equipment and grounds around the Solid Waste/Recycling Shed and other varies duties as assigned. A valid Iowa Class B CDL with air brakes designation, or the ability to obtain one is required. Position is full-time with excellent benefits. Annual Tree Walk

This year the annual tree walk is going to be held at the Lifegate area. It will be held in the Quonset building to the South of the new church on Highway 169 North. The Tree walk starts on Friday November 24th and run thru Thursday December 25th. 8:00AM to 8:00PM everyday.

A Christmas Dinner will be held there among the trees on Christmas Day starting at noon. It will be a free will donation.
