Youth Assistance Program:

The City of Humboldt is proud to offer scholarships for Humboldt County residents who want to participate in Parks & Recreation youth activities who may not have the financial means to do so. Through the generous sponsorship of our local businesses, Power Co-Ep Employees Credit Union, Vorland Real Estate Company, 1st Choice Gutters & Exteriors, and The City of Humboldt we were able to secure funds for the 2026/2027 fiscal year to offer a scholarship program to those in need. The Humboldt Recreation Department believes every child should have the opportunity to enjoy a recreational experience.

Who is eligible for this program?  Any child under the age of 18 living within Humboldt County who qualifies for the free/reduced lunch program or is on state funded insurance.

How do I apply for this program? Eligible participants must complete the application form and bring their Free/Reduced Lunch paperwork or their state funded insurance card for the person enrolled in the program to the Humboldt Recreation office at the Humboldt Recreation Center or use the online application (https://tinyurl.com/HRDscholarship)  for enrollment into the program.

When does scholarship eligibility expire each year? All accounts reset annually at the beginning of each school year. Participants need to bring their paperwork each year to the Humboldt Recreation Center to be eligible for the scholarship program.

What are the scholarship-eligible programs through Humboldt Recreation? Group swim lessons (excluding private lessons), Youth Sports Leagues including flag football, volleyball, mini milers, basketball, mini cats track clinic, soccer, tee ball/coach pitch, and baseball/softball programs.

Is there a limit to how many activities I can sign up for?  Yes, each individual that qualifies can register for 2 free programs per school year.

How do I register for a Rec Program after being approved for the scholarship program? Visit the Humboldt Recreation Center to fill out a paper registration form or email calebh@cityofhumboldt.org.
